Hundreds of teenagers from Kampung Sumur and Buaran involved in a brawl happened at the side of Kampung Sumur railway, Jatinegara Urban Village, Cakung Sub-District, East Jakarta, Sunday (6/30) morning from 6 AM until 9 AM. The brawl was triggered by trivial problem, which is taunting and throwing firecrackers to each other.

In the brawl, the two groups attacked each other by stones, wood, bamboo poles, until sharp weapons. It had not found yet whether there was a casualty or not. However, a policeman from Cakung Sector Police was wounded on the head by a stone while trying to break up the brawl.

Sukijo (45), a retail gasoline seller, said that before the brawl occurred, the two groups were grouping and playing firecrackers in Kampung Sumur area. The brawl finally broke out after they taunted each other and threw firecrackers.

“This is the second time. Previously, the brawl occurred until 11 AM and they mass dispersed themselves.  Now, it occurred for about three hours and the mass was dispersed by the police,” he told.

Iwan (30), another resident, disclosed that brawl often occurred in that area not just once or twice, but dozens of times. The cause is very trivial, such as taunting each other or getting offended or woman matters. He requested related unit to handle and reconcile the two groups before there is casualty.

“ Brawl between two villages’ teenagers often happened there. If not caused by taunting each other, it must be women matters ,” he said.

When beritajakarta.com contacted Cakung Sector Police Chief Comr. Liliek Heriyanto via cell phone for confirmation, the official did not answer even once. The short message sent to Head of Cakung Sub-District, Ali Murtadho, was also not replied.
